    Canadian Financial Aid

ICDC College participates in several financial aid programs that offer assistance to qualified Canadian students pursuing a post-secondary career education, and we do all we can to help you access the financial aid resources available to support your career training.

Canadian students should be aware of the following three points when applying for financial aid to help cover the cost of post-secondary education:

1.If you plan on studying at a post-secondary school located outside of Canada, such as ICDC College, the Student Financial Assistance Branch of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities acts as your “financial aid office.”

2.Both the educational institution and the program of study must be recognized by the Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports for the purposes of awarding financial assistance.*

3.The provincial government provides the funding for 40% of the amount assessed; the federal government provides 60%.

Students from Canada must apply for financial aid through the province or territory where they have lived for at least 12 months before beginning full-time post-secondary studies. Students who are dependents may establish residency in a province or territory through their parents. Married students may establish residency through their spouse or legal partner.

The financial aid requirements and application procedures vary by your province or territory. **

To assist you in finding the information and procedures related to applying for assistance in your province of residence, we have provided a list of province-specific links below:

    Alberta – www.alis.gov.ab.ca/ps/fo/studentsfinance/eap/index.html

    British Columbia – www.aved.gov.bc.ca/studentaidbc

    Manitoba – www.studentaid.gov.mb.ca

    New Brunswick – www.studentaid.gnb.ca

    Newfoundland and Labrador – www.edu.gov.nf.ca/studentaid

    Nova Scotia – www.studentloans.ednet.ns.ca/

    Northwest Territories – www.nwtsfa.gov.nt.ca

    Prince Edward Island – www.gov.pe.ca/educ

    Québec – www.afe.gouv.qc.ca/en/index.asp

    Saskatchewan – www.student-loans.sk.ca

Because the financial aid application process for Canada can be relatively lengthy, we encourage our Canadian students to begin researching and applying for financial aid as soon as they have qualified to enroll in an ICDC College Associate Degree or Accelerated Fast-Track Diploma program. Contact our admissions office today and get qualified to enroll in one of our career training programs!

Some Points to Consider When Applying for Financial Aid from Canada:

    • Make sure you meet the criteria for financial aid eligibility within your province or territory
    • If your circumstances change, this can affect your eligibility status for financial aid
    • Be aware of any time limits or restrictions related to your grant, loan, bursary, or scholarship
    • You must maintain satisfactory academic progress to keep your financial aid award
    • Canadian loans are granted interest-free, as long as you are enrolled as a “full-time” student
    • Six months after completing your full-time post-secondary studies, whether you graduate,
transfer to part-time studies, withdraw, or take time off, you will be required to begin repaying any student loans
