Employment:
ICDC College offers its graduates an employment preparation course prior to graduation. This assists them in finding sources of employment, preparing an effective resume, and providing effective interviewing techniques. The goal of this program is to prepare ICDC College graduates to enter the business world with the knowledge and skills needed for success.
ICDC graduates of the Business Management and Accounting program may be qualified for entry-level positions that may include:
Junior Accountant/Bookkeeper: As an entry-level accountant or bookkeeper, you would provide accurate financial information to businesses by maintaining and reconciling accounts and preparing reports. Your duties might include analyzing balance sheets and updating daily ledger accounts, gathering information to balance bank accounts, and preparing special reports on the company’s financial status.
Accounts Payable Coordinator: In this role you would coordinate accounts payable including the preparation, review and maintenance of all purchase records. You would prepare checks for all purchases made on behalf of a company or organization. Your duties might include updating vendor information and maintaining accounts payable files, cross-checking vendor invoices against purchase orders, entering invoices into the computing system, preparing reconciliation statements, and communicating with company departments and sales vendors.
Client Billing Specialist: As a billing specialist you would typically handle financial statement processing and posting for office billing functions including accounts receivable and payable. Additional tasks might include completing daily wire submissions to banks, cutting manual checks, processing invoices, and generating and distributing financial statements on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
Business Office Coordinator: In this role you would typically manage and collect information for customer accounts and receivables, makes sure all billing and client information is correct, track invoicing and purchase orders, and perform account resolution, including working with clients to resolve any issues. Your duties may also include working with satellite offices and colleagues, as well as gathering necessary data to assist management with account-specific decisions.
Office Manager: As a business office manager you would be responsible for accounts receivable functions and all other financial transactions and reconciliations in the office. This position also typically handles duties such as record keeping for the business, staff supervision, and customer service involving clients.
You may have previous experience working in the business and finance field, but completion of an Associate Degree in Business Management and Accounting makes you a stronger candidate for a management position and more likely to be promoted.
