    Business Management and Accounting Associate Degree

    If your strengths and interests are in business, money management and people, then ICDC College’s Business Management and Accounting Associate Degree may be the perfect first step towards your future career. ICDC College’s online Business Management Associate Degree program trains you how to manage financial accounts and staff. Students will also learn how to run a business and handle all the practical accounting functions that are required by financial departments across different industries.

    Businesses need strong finance professionals who can use the latest accounting software programs. ICDC College will train you in current accounting software like QuickBooks® and Sage Peachtree™, as well as the tax preparation program TurboTax®. Through these programs and the topics covered in your classes, you will develop strong skills in bookkeeping, tax preparation and business finance.

    In our online Business Management and Accounting Associate Degree program, you will learn from experienced professionals who are experts in their fields. As an online student, you will still benefit from one-on-one interaction with your professors, fellow students, and the ICDC College Academic Advising and Online Career Advising teams.

    Graduates who receive business management and accounting training at ICDC College may find employment in finance positions with a variety of companies ranging from small- to mid-sized tax preparation and bookkeeping services, to large organizations in various industries.

    Career

    Graduates of ICDC College’s Business Management and Accounting Associate Degree program may find employment across a number of industries! Businesses of all types need a strong finance team, and our graduates will be occupationally trained in the latest accounting programs that businesses generally require for employees entering office management, finance and payroll positions.

    Career Services assistance is provided by ICDC College upon completion of the program.

    Employment:

    ICDC College offers its graduates an employment preparation course prior to graduation. This assists them in finding sources of employment, preparing an effective resume, and providing effective interviewing techniques. The goal of this program is to prepare ICDC College graduates to enter the business world with the knowledge and skills needed for success.

    ICDC graduates of the Business Management and Accounting program may be qualified for entry-level positions that may include:

    Junior Accountant/Bookkeeper: As an entry-level accountant or bookkeeper, you would provide accurate financial information to businesses by maintaining and reconciling accounts and preparing reports. Your duties might include analyzing balance sheets and updating daily ledger accounts, gathering information to balance bank accounts, and preparing special reports on the company’s financial status.

    Accounts Payable Coordinator: In this role you would coordinate accounts payable including the preparation, review and maintenance of all purchase records. You would prepare checks for all purchases made on behalf of a company or organization. Your duties might include updating vendor information and maintaining accounts payable files, cross-checking vendor invoices against purchase orders, entering invoices into the computing system, preparing reconciliation statements, and communicating with company departments and sales vendors.

    Client Billing Specialist: As a billing specialist you would typically handle financial statement processing and posting for office billing functions including accounts receivable and payable. Additional tasks might include completing daily wire submissions to banks, cutting manual checks, processing invoices, and generating and distributing financial statements on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

    Business Office Coordinator: In this role you would typically manage and collect information for customer accounts and receivables, makes sure all billing and client information is correct, track invoicing and purchase orders, and perform account resolution, including working with clients to resolve any issues. Your duties may also include working with satellite offices and colleagues, as well as gathering necessary data to assist management with account-specific decisions.

    Office Manager: As a business office manager you would be responsible for accounts receivable functions and all other financial transactions and reconciliations in the office. This position also typically handles duties such as record keeping for the business, staff supervision, and customer service involving clients.

    You may have previous experience working in the business and finance field, but completion of an Associate Degree in Business Management and Accounting makes you a stronger candidate for a management position and more likely to be promoted.

    To enter this program, students must possess a high school diploma or pass a high-school equivalency exam.

    *The tax preparer course (course #1035-QE-0012) is a CTEC approved course, which fulfills the 60-hour “qualifying education” requirement for tax preparers. A listing of additional requirements to register as a tax preparer may be obtained by contacting CTEC at P.O Box 2890, Sacramento, CA, 95812-2890, toll free by phone at (877) 850-2832, or the internet at www.ctec.org. State requirements vary.
